Museum of X
Description: We are looking for bold architectural ideas for the Louisiana Museum of X, that will represent the values and main themes of the new museum, as well as accommodate exhibitions, educational, and public programs. It is essential that your Museum addresses the local community and provides an urban amenity. As a part of this project, the specific theming and media contained within the museum’s collection are up to you to propose.
I designed a Civil Rights Museum named after the late T.J. Jemison. I aimed to create a building that was serene in its execution while maintaining a strong presence in order for the subject matter of the museum to be displayed respectfully. A Courtyard welcomes visitors transitioning them from Veterans Memorial Park or the adjacent existing parking structure. On the interior, the use of the oscillating walls allows for complete room size modification and flow strategy.
